That's what I felt like shouting every couple of pages while reading Scott Lynch's follow-up to his tour-de-force debut novel, The Lies of Locke Lamora, which I reviewed here. A reader's blog about SF/F fandom: the music, the costumes, but mostly the books. Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch. I enjoyed Red Seas Under Red Skies plenty, but not as much as The Lies of Locke Lamora and not enough to convince me that this series is better for being a series. Now in the second novel, "Red Seas Under Red Skies", the fearless thieves, Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen, return to attempt an even more spectacular heist than last time. Books I've read, books I'd like to read, and other book related stuff. A heist that very nearly killed Locke. Where I Got It: Used paperback from Amazon.com. Why I Read It: Book 1, The Lies of Locke Lamora, was excellent and we also did a readalong on Darkcargo.com. Rather bravely, in Red Seas Under Red Skies Lynch tries to do something different to what he did in the first book and consequently I have to applaud his effort.
